Around 1030B/6, the damaged battleship HMS Ramillies (Cdr. L.N. Brownfield, RN) departed Durban for Capetown. She is escorted by the destroyers HMS Wivern (Cdr. M.D.C. Meyrick, RN) and HMS Brilliant (Lt.Cdr. A.G. Poe, RN). (1)

Around 1045B/9, HMS Ramillies (Cdr. L.N. Brownfield, RN), HMS Wivern (Cdr. M.D.C. Meyrick, RN) and HMS Brilliant (Lt.Cdr. A.G. Poe, RN) arrived at Capetown from Durban. (1)

Around 1700B/10, HMS Ramillies (Cdr. L.N. Brownfield, RN), HMS Wivern (Cdr. M.D.C. Meyrick, RN) and HMS Brilliant (Lt.Cdr. A.G. Poe, RN) departed Capetown for Freetown. En-route they were to make a fuel stop (for the destroyers) at St. Helena which they did on the 16th. (1)

Around 1200Z/21, HMS Ramillies (Cdr. L.N. Brownfield, RN), HMS Wivern (Cdr. M.D.C. Meyrick, RN) and HMS Brilliant (Lt.Cdr. A.G. Poe, RN) arrived at Freetown from Capetown (via St. Helena). (2)

3 Sep 1942
Around 0100A/3, the damaged battleship HMS Ramillies (Cdr. L.N. Brownfield, RN) departed Gibraltar for Plymouth. She is escorted by the destroyers HMS Westcott (Cdr. I.H. Bockett-Pugh, DSO, RN), HMS Wishart (Cdr. H.G. Scott, RN), HMS Panther (Lt.Cdr. R.W. Jocelyn, RN) and HMS Penn (Lt.Cdr. J.H. Swain, RN).

Around 1030A/5, the destroyers HMS Beverley (Lt. R.A. Price, RN) and HMS Chesterfield (Lt. J. Smallwood, RN) joined.

Around 1045A/5, HMS Westcott and HMS Wishart parted company.

Around 1200A/8, HMS Ramillies, HMS Panther, HMS Penn, HMS Beverley and HMS Chesterfield arrived at Plymouth. (3)
