Career information
"Born in Chicago, he was appointed to the United States Naval Academy in 1908. His assignments included extensive destroyer service, as well as three years as the Fort Mifflin Naval Ammunition Depot, Philadelphia, starting in 1937. Captain Gulbranson participated in the North African invasion during the recent war" (arlingtoncemetery.net).
He also commanded the destroyer USS Touchey (DD-282) from 28 Dec 1923 - 1924 (navsource.org).
