Career information

Was en-route to the Mediterranean (Alexandria), to join the submarine depot ship HMS Medway as spare submarine commanding officer, when the ship he was on, the Dutch merhchant vessel Barneveld, was captured on 20 January 1941 by the German pocket battleship Admiral Scheer. He spent the remaider of the war in a P.O.W. camp in Germany.
