Graham Hellyer also served in the RNVR. They were from the Hellyer fishing family of Hull.

HMS Home Guard (T/Lt. M. Hellyer, RNVR) picks up 35 survivors from the Panamanian merchant Alcedo that was torpedoed and sunk the previous day off Reykjavik, Iceland in position 64°07'N, 23°17'W by German U-boat U-1022.
