HMS Pennywort (Lt. W.P. Hart, RNR) and HMS Damsay together pick up 59 survivors from the British merchant Orminster that was torpedoed and sunk by the Germans submarine U-480 in the English Channel about 35 nautical miles northwest of Cap d?Antifer in position 50°09'N, 00°44'W.
