Career information
His father was John Enright, Coastguards RN, born 1851, his mother was Bridget born 1859, both of whom were born in Dunny Cove, Ireland.
Philip was the 10th of 12 children, of whom four at least (including Philip) served in the Royal Navy.
It seems Philip never married. His oldest brother, Lieutenant Commander Daniel Patrick Joseph Enright, RN, married Emily Augusta Wilmot Murray.

It was intended she was to be used to support the left flank of the Allied armies in France with a bombardment of the area near Le Treport. The order to do so however never came from the Admiralty as contact with the Army commander in the area could not be established. All this time HMS Cardiff was at one hour notice for sea. (11)

Around 1515A/15, she was joined near Saint-Valery-en-Caux by the destroyer HMS Harvester (Lt.Cdr. M. Thornton, RN), presumably to provide A/S protection in case HMS Cardiff was ordered to bombard enemy troop ashore for which she was to be stopped in order for the gunfire to be more effective.
No bombardment was carried out however and HMS Cardiff anchored in Spithead around 2315A/12. (11)

[After the Japanese surrender HMS Cumberland remained on the East Indies Station until late October 1945 when she sailed for the U.K. arriving there in mid-November. (35)
