USS Pomfret (Cdr. F.C. Acker) torpedoed and sank the Japanese troop transport Tsuyama Maru (6962 GRT) and torpedoed and damaged the Japanese troop transport Makassar Maru (4026 GRT) south of Formosa in position 21°00'N, 121°46'E.
