Son of Paul de Shietere de Lophem and Agnes Veriiest.
He married an English woman,, Louisa Senar, in Liverpool. They had one daughter.
After his war service he became Harbourmaster for the port of Ostend, Belgium.
His funeral took place at the Anglican church in Ostend.
