Career information
He was the second son of (later) Sir James and Jessie, Lady Gunson, he was educated at Three Kings School, Auckland Grammar School and Queen's College, Oxford University 1927-1930 obtaining a Bachelor's and later a Master's degree. He married Myrtle Cochrane in 1939. They had two children, Timothy (1940-2009) and Prudence (1942-). He remarried to Elizabeth Wilson in 1946. They had three sons, Ian (1947-), Jonathan (1950-) and David (1953-). A stockbroker before and after the war, he later became a bookseller. When he died in 1971, having provided for his family, he left a fortune in Jacobean silver, Oriental artwork, ceramics and jades to the Auckland Museum.
