Notes on event

At 15.31 hours on 23 March 1942 the British Prudence (Master George Albert Dickson), a straggler from convoy HX-181, was torpedoed and sunk by U-754 northeast of Halifax. Three crew members were lost. The master, 41 crew members and five gunners were picked up by HMS Witherington (D 76) (Lt R. Horncastle, RN) and landed at Halifax on 24 March.
