History Completed in July 1924 as Malvernian for Ellerman Lines Ltd, London. 1927 renamed City of Kobe for the same owner. 
Notes on event

At 03.35 hours on 19 Dec 1939 the City of Kobe (Master William Scott Craig) in convoy FS-56 struck a mine, laid on 15 December by U-60 and sank near Cross Sand Buoy, Great Yarmouth. One crew member was lost. The master and 29 crew members were picked up by HMS Tumby (FY 850) (Skipper J.W. Greengrass) and the British coasters Corinia and Faxfleet.
