Notes on event | At 08.34 hours on 18 March 1943, U-593 attacked a small convoy near Derna, Cyrenaica and sank two ships, the Dafila and Kaying. The badly damaged Kaying (Master R.H. Fairley) foundered the next day in heavy weather. Seven crew members and two gunners were lost. The master, 67 crew members and four gunners were rescued and landed at Alexandria. | ||
