Fighter pilot of 804 Squadron FAA serving with the Catapult Fighter Unit. He had served in 79 Squadron RAF during the Battle of Britain and continued to serve in the RAF after the war, being awarded a DSC for service in the Korea War and eventually retiring as Commander in 1972.
