Personal information
John Francis Fowler joined the Royal Navy in the Summer of 1940. He survived the U-boat attack on HMS Ariguani and later served on HMS LST-319, participating in four invasions including Sicily and Normandy. He was Mentioned in Despatches for distinguished service and received seven stars and medals for his wartime service. After the war he worked as second mate on the Canadian Lake Boats until he retired.
