Personal information
Son of Einar and Gunvor Henriksen, of Gunnestad, Nøtterøy. He had been the third officer aboard the Norwegian motor tanker Jaspis, which was interned at Casablanca by Vichy French authorities on 22 June 1940 and eventually released from internment on 24 May 1941.
