Personal information
Son of William Henry and Janet Metcalf, of Grindon, Sunderland, Co. Durham. His brother John Callum was lost when Rowanbank was bombed and sunk by German aircraft on 31 January 1941 and his brother William perished in the sinking of Diala in January 1942.
