Husband of Irene Pimenta, of Brooklyn, NY. At the time of his death he was in process of trying to gain U.S. citizenship through the American Consulate in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Shortly after Jose was reported lost at sea, his pregnant wife returned home to Massachusetts where his son Joseph R. Pimenta, Jr. was born 5 months after the sinking of Pillory.
