Personal information
Roy Wilber Charles Widdicombe had been a sailor aboard the British steam merchant Anglo Saxon which was shelled and sunk by the German raider Widder west of the Canary Islands on 21 August 1940. He was one of two survivors who reached the Bahamas in a jolly boat after 70 days and sailing about 2500 miles. Roy perished in the sinking of Siamese Prince during his repatriation from New York.
