Son of James and Anne John; husband of Louise Elisabeth John, of Cadoxton, Barry, Glamorgan. His son Frederick was lost when the British steam merchant Tunisia was bombed and sunk by a German Fw200 aircraft west of Ireland on 4 August 1941.
