The second steward Rose was forced to jump overboard when Dumana was sunk, but he was unable to swim and was drifting perilously close to the propeller of HMS Arran which was rescuing the survivors. A crew member of the trawler, Sub-Lieutenant D. Geldart, RNVR dived overboard and swam about 35 feet to his rescue, undoubtedly saving his life.Do you have additional information on this person?
