Personal information
Son of Jesse Thomas and Martha Henrietta (Hunley) Hodges; husband of Edna R. Hodges and father of George Dewey, Jr., Doris E., Jean H. and Barbara Jane, of Norfolk, VA. His wedding ring was later found in the belly of a shark caught by Cuban fisherman in the area where Onondaga had been sunk. His brother Leslie Horace Hodges had died ten days earlier when Oneida was also torpedoed and sunk off Cuba.
