Personal information
John Martin Miller survived the sinking of Potlatch, but was bitten in the lower arm by a shark before he was picked up by a lifeboat. He died after the wound became infected and was buried at sea on 18 July. The Liberty ship John Martin Miller, completed in January 1945, was named after him.
