Personal information
Son of Michael and Frances Byrne, of Liverpool. He was one of five survivors from Coimbra who were rescued from a raft by a whaleboat from USS Mayrant that transferred them to USS Rowan, but died of exposure and shock shortly after the rescue and was buried at sea on 16 January 1942.
