Personal information
Son of Aksel and Kristine Mæland; husband of Ada Hildegard Mæland, of Stavanger. He stayed in hospital at Reykjavik after the sinking of Taranger from May to December 1941 and was taking passage aboard Nyholt when the ship was sunk. Rescued after the sinking he was taken to a hospital at Halifax, but died of wounds and was buried there.
