John Briffa of Sliema served in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) during the First and Second World War and was mainly based at Alexandria during the latter. He was awarded the Mercantile Marine War Medal and Victory Medal for his WW1 service and the War Medal 1939-1945.
