Personal information
Edgar "Ted" Edward Atkinson not only survived the sinking of Holmpark, but was also on another, not yet identified, vessel sunk by a U-boat and spent two weeks in a lifeboat before landing in St. Helena. Helena also happened to be his wife’s name.
He later became a ship's master in his own right and was recognised for his part in the rescue of the crew of Clan Keith which was wrecked during a storm about 11 miles south of Galita Island on 5 Nov, 1961.
