Personal information
Thomas Lang was commended for his services during the towing of Athelviscount. He kept the crew supplied with hot food under the most difficult and trying conditions. The galley was wrecked by the explosion, so he constructed a fire out of three buckets and never failed to produce a hot meal when it was needed. The master later reported that without his efforts they would have been unable to do the work, as the weather was bitterly cold and rough all the time, growing worse during the last two days, so cold that the drinking water in the cabins froze.Do you have additional information on this person?
