Henry Morrow had served as shipwright aboard the submarine depot ship HMS Adamant and was returning from South Africa to his job in the Dockyard at Portsmouth aboard Orcades when she was torpedoed. After the war he took and passed his Civil Service exams and was 1st in the tax office and then a customs officer at Southampton and Harwich.
