Olaf H. Christoffersen survived the sinking of Peru and returned to the UK aboard Volendam, arriving in Avonmouth on 21 December 1941. He later served aboard the Danish motor merchant Panama, which capsized and sank due to a marine accident on 11 Apr, 1945. He and four other sailors were rescued.
