Personal information
Son of Thomas and Lucy Ann Burgess, husband of Florence Mae Burgess, of Port Mouton, Nova Scotia. He joined the RCN on 9 May 1941 and had served aboard HMCS St. Croix since 14 July 1942. His wife was pregnant at the time of his death at sea and his son Ira Richard was born on 25 March 1944.
