Personal information
Thomas Edward McKay survived the sinking of HMS Salopian, but his brother in law Henry McCaffery, who was married to his sister Margaret, perished. Thomas was supposed to be in the engine room but Henry decided to swap shifts with him on their break, just before the first torpedo hit.
