Personal information
Son of Herbert Adam and Ethel Whitehill; husband of Jean Bessie Whitehill, of Colonel Light Gardens, South Australia. Maxwell E. Whitehill was one of the survivors in the lifeboat that made it to Bathurst after the sinking of Memnon. He became an air gunner in 49 Squadron RAF and was killed in action when Avro Manchester L7469 failed to return from an air raid on Emden during the night of 6/7 June 1942.
