Personal information
Son of John Hartley and Ella Elizabeth Swain; husband of Marjorie I. Swain, of Olean, NY. Both of his sons served in World War Two and survived: William Morrison Swain, Jr., who joined the US Army and became a prisoner of war and John Hartley Swain, who joined the US Navy and became Signalman First Class aboard USS LSM-266.
