Personal information
Gustav Adolf Steimler escaped from Norway to England at the age of 18 to join the Royal Norwegian Navy. He survived the sinking of HNoMS Montbretia and continued to serve in the Navy post-war, becoming commanding officer of frigates and eventually raising to the rank of Rear Admiral.
