Personal information
Sidney John Mulford Foy served in the Royal Navy from 1 July 1915 to 10 September 1945, raising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He was assigned to HMS Salopian on 20 May 1940 and survived her sinking a year later. His family recalls that Sidney turned up at home in St. Mary Cray, Kent, to see his sister after the sinking, disgusted at the fact he had been issued an army uniform as a short term measure after losing his possessions.
