Personal information
William Weir survived the sinking of HMS Royal Oak because he was on deck that night and was rescued after jumping into the water. He went on to become a chief petty officer at the age of just 21. His photo appeared in the book "Black Saturday" and shows him leaving the docks after the sinking.
