Personal information
Son of James Clark and Adelaide I. Moore; husband of Nadia Sydkova Moore, of San Diego, CA. Van Rensselaer Moore joined the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD on 3 September 1915 and after graduating in 1918 he served the last three months of World War One with the Destroyer Force based at Brest, France. Retired from the US Navy on 30 June 1940, returned to active service to serve as convoy commodore.
