Personal information
Murdo Macritchie served in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) during the latter stages of World War One and then the Merchant Navy until 1931. He returned to sea when joining the British Glory at Glasgow on 1 October 1940, probably because his first cousin Alexander Matheson also served aboard. His employment proved to be brief as the ship was torpedoed two weeks later.
