Personal information
Vasilis Laskos had been Lieutenant and submarine commander until dismissed from the Hellenic Navy after the failed coup d’état in March 1935. While serving in the Merchant Navy he survived the sinking of Ioanna, but later became a submarine commander again, when given command of RHS Katsonis (N 16) that operated from Alexandria under British control. He died when the submarine was sunk by the German patrol vessel UJ-2101 off Skiathos Island on 14 September 1943.
