Personal information
Leonard Hudson Conly, Sr., delivered the famous “lifeboat baby” Jesse Roper Mohorovicic while waiting for rescue in a lifeboat after the sinking of City of New York, even tough he himself had two broken ribs and the lifeboat was tossed about in 15 foot waves. Leonard wanted to serve but was in poor health, so only the Merchant Marine accepted him.
