Personal information
Samuel McGurk White served in the Merchant Navy throughout the Second World War, not only surviving the sinking of Empire Fusilier in February 1942 but also the loss of the British steam merchant Bancrest which was sunk by a German aircraft on 30 January 1940, just 5 days after his 17th birthday.
