Personal information
Robert Firth had survived the sinking of a ship, which has yet to be identified, before serving aboard Adda from 12 February 1941 until she was sunk on 8 June 1941. He then joined Empire Ability in Freetown, but luckily left again before she departed as the ship was sunk only a few days later. He continued to serve in the Merchant Navy until his final discharge in January 1946.
