Personal information
Arthur Frank Kneebone was in the water for about 12 hours after the sinking of HMS Helca before being rescued by HMS Venomous and taken to Casablanca. He was then transferred to Gibraltar and eventually repatriated to Plymouth, still wearing an American uniform he had been provided at some point. Serving full term in the Royal Navy he later retired as Lieutenant Shipwright.
