Personal information
William Robert Hill served aboard USS Edward Rutledge from 18 April 1942 until she was sunk on 12 November 1942. He was awarded the Legion of Merit for his efforts in saving his crewmates after the ship was torpedoed. William participated in the Normandy landings in June 1944 while serving aboard USS PC-552 on convoy escort duty.
