Personal information
Jack Worthington Cook went on survivor’s leave after the sinking of HMS Lagan and was then sent on Arctic convoy duties. He later served aboard HMS Bayntun shortly before he was demobilized.
He came from a Royal Navy family, his brother Alan Cook was based at Singapore and later served on HMS Theseus. His cousin John Edward Collinson was lost in the sinking of HMS Courageous in September 1939, another cousin, John Rushton, was badly wounded as Fleet Air Arm pilot but survived the war and his uncle Thomas Worthington was a telegraphist based at Bermuda to control Atlantic convoys.
