Claude Elgin Wayman served in the US Navy from 8 October 1942 to 15 August 1945. He was injured in the sinking of Melville E. Stone, after rescue taken to the Naval Hospital at Coco Solo, Panama Canal Zone and repatriated to the US aboard USS Antaeus in May 1944.Sources
