At 23.20 and 23.21 hours on 21 September 1941, U-201 fired torpedoes at convoy OG-74 north-northeast of the Azores and reported two ships sunk. The ships hit were Lissa and Rhineland.

The master, 21 crew members and four gunners from the Lissa (Master Donald MacQuarrie) were lost.
