| Notes on event | At 19.22 hours on 21 Jan 1942 the unescorted Belize (Master Olav Georgsen) was torpedoed and sunk by U-754 off Newfoundland. There were no survivors. On 24 January, HMCS Spikenard (K 198) (LtCdr H.G. Shadforth, RCNR) found a water-filled lifeboat bearing her name and four bodies 25 miles east of St. Johns. | ||
