Notes on event

At 11.50 hours on 16 February 1942 the unescorted San Nicolas was hit by one torpedo from U-502 and sank in flames 25 miles southwest of Punta Macolla in the Gulf of Venezuela. The tanker had been missed in a first attack at 11.34 hours. Seven crew members were lost. 19 crew members were rescued and landed at Maracaibo.
