Notes on event | At 10.08 hours on 6 September 1942 U-375 stopped the Salina (JS 69) with a shot across her bow about 5 miles west of Latakia and then sank the sailing vessel with 13 rounds from the deck gun at 10.22 hours. A coastal artillery gun was firing one round every minute from the nearby shore, but could not reach the U-boat. The crew had abandoned ship in a lifeboat and made landfall at Latakia. |
